Are you comfortable in a place where everybody knows your name and calls you by your name?? If yes, then small town living is perfect for you and if not, then don’t ever try to live in a small town; you won’t enjoy it.
There are certain things that differ considerably between living in a big town and a small city. Living in a small town is not only the question of logistics, but you require a different mindset for that.
In a small town, people are closely knitted, they are tied together and everybody knows one another. This may explain the fact why some behaviors may seem to be absolutely different from the behaviors of the crowded, faceless city.
Crime is almost extinct in small towns. Every one knows the other person well, so violence by strangers is comparatively rare. Some even feel so secured that they leave their doors open. They do not bother to lock the doors of their houses even when they are not at home.
Community involvement and volunteerism are other important characteristics of a small town living. These are the two things that are encouraged in the small cities and towns.
If you are moving from a big city t o a small town, it obviously requires a lot of adjustment on your part, but there are situations where you have to relocate. It may be for your profession or for some other personal reasons. Suppose, if you want to start your career as a Ski Instructor, it will be wise for you to settle in one of the small mountainous towns.
Whatever may be the case, if you are tired with the noise and hustle bustle of the city life, you must come and experience the life of a small town. Here you will obviously miss the excitement of a big city, but to concentrate on family values, enjoy a higher standard of living in terms of fair housing and services and also to slow down the pace of your life-this is the best option.
